POLISH CULTURE – GENERAL ISSUES – LECTURES:
- the role of teaching Polish culture in teaching Polish as a foreign language; suggestions of thematic issues for liberal (humanistic) grupus of students and ways of introducing cultural elements at foreign language classes depending on the level of proficiency in Polish language
- review of the definitions and ways of understanding the term culture and the influence of the choice of one method on the shape of the teaching program offered to the foreigners (examples); methods of introducing issues concerning culture (intersemiotics, drama, lecture, seminar, audiovisual techniques etc.)
- books used to teach Polish culture – presentation
- uniqueness of Polish noble culture – Sarmatism (with a special consideration of the lifestyles during Polish Renaissance)
- Sarmatism – idealology and practice, Sarmatism as a tradition in Polish culture
- around Polish national myths (among others antemurale christianitatis, Poland as the granary of nations, Polish hospitality etc.)
- etiquette in Polish culture – the history of customs (based on the description of the customs and Mister Thaddeus (Pan Tadeusz)
- Romantic cultural legacy – Romantic mythology (folk, egotism, Prometheus myth, messianism)
- main museum centers – about artistic culture (Puławy, Wawel, Pszczyna etc.)
- ethnic stereotypes
- change in the traditional codes of Second Rzeczpospolita, tradition and modernity, patterns
- the culture of PRL (People’s Republic of Poland) – cultural patterns or accidents
