Touch

Touch the rain, only to realize that it’s not the rain
that’s falling, but dust from the moon.

Touch the walls, only to realize that it’s not a wall
that’s standing, but a curtain of clouds

Take a bite of bread, only to realize that all the rye
has been eaten by rats and the baker has passed away.

Take a sip of water, only to realize that the well,
along with all the others, has dried up.

Speak, only to realize that you’re
actually shouting but nobody cares.

Touch

Touch the rain, to determine, that what is falling
Is not the rain, only the dust falling from the moon

Touch the walls, to determine that the surrounding wall
Is not a wall, but a curtain of clouds

Take a bite of the bread, to determine that the rats
Ate the rye, and the baker also perished

Sip the water, to determine that the well
Dried up, as well as every other spring

Utter a word, to determine that the sound
Is a shout and nobody cares
